About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and agile APAC Payroll Specialist to join our Global Payroll Team. This role is responsible for effective execution of payroll operations across multiple APAC countries, in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll delivery in a fast-paced environment, partners with third parties to ensure optimal vendor performance, driving standardization and efficient processes, and collaboratively working with internal stakeholders in developing and maintaining trusted partnerships.
This position would be based in any of Gore APAC facilities, preferable in Singapore, Korea or Hong Kong.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll activities independently such as the collection, review, analysis, of full-cycle payroll across multiple APAC countries with accuracy and compliance, including liaising with payroll vendors where applicable
- Prepare month-end journals and reporting integrating to the financial system including preparation/distribution of departmentalized payroll detail reports, leave accrual etc
- Assist in year-end payroll tasks including tax filings, internal and external audits, and reconciliations and achieve high level of efficiency, accuracy and compliance
- Provide effective support on payroll inquiries, navigate complex/non-routine situations by recognizing problematic areas, providing corrective actions and take ownership of communications through timely resolution
- Close collaboration with third-party providers, local authorities and internal stakeholders such as statutory reporting, filing of declarations, statutory payments and ability to discern complicated instructions to ensure payroll compliance with local tax laws and statutory regulations
- Contribute to continuous process improvements and implement payroll-related projects, including workflows, automation initiatives, payroll vendor competencies, analysis & planning and regulatory compliance
- Optimize payroll and HR system usage (e.g. SuccessFactors, Excel), ensuring accurate data flow and reporting
- Set up and implement new payroll services for entities in emerging markets, ensuring operational readiness and legal compliance
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Accountancy, Finance or related professional qualification with minimum of 5 years of hands-on payroll experience in multi-country APAC payroll, India, Japan or Korea is essential
- Expertise working with payroll vendors, managing escalations and multi-country service delivery
- Experience working in virtual, multicultural, with overseas and local teams, with demonstrated decision-making and conflict-resolution skills; experienced consulting and collaborating with leaders and teams in process optimization and compliance governance projects
- Solid and current understanding of payroll rules, tax regulations, labor laws, policies and practices governing wage payments, distributions, and record keeping across multiple jurisdictions
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and influencing skills
- Be proactive, agile, number-sensitive, analytical and detail-oriented, critical thinker, process improvements
- Self-starter who can prioritize work and organize workload simultaneously with minimal supervision, passion for learning, critical thinking and high level of follow through
- Fluency in English is required, knowledge in Japanese language is preferrable; Chinese or other Asian languages are a plus
- Ability to work under pressure and perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with daily activities
- Ability to travel up to 5%
Desired Qualifications
- Payroll or Financial certification preferred with equivalent experience
- Experience working with external payroll vendors and platforms (e.g., ADP, or other Managed Outsourced Solution
- Working knowledge of SuccessFactors or other HRIS systems is preferred
