About the Role

Gore Medical is looking for a Scientist to join our Heparin Testing Team in the Heparin Analytical Chemistry Laboratory.  The successful candidate will support Heparin Activity testing and other lab initiatives, ensuring flow of test samples to meet customer delivery expectations.  This is a day shift position that will cover a Monday-Friday schedule; with schedule flexibility because weekend support is occasionally needed. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing analytical support for development of state-of-the art implantable combination products, energized by working for a world-class manufacturer and collaborating on cross-functional teams and recognize the importance of building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships.

 

This role will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Heparin Activity and Identity testing on a variety of materials in support of heparin coated products. Perform extensive pipetting for some methods
  • Share responsibility for setting up and operating analytical laboratory instrumentation 
  • Perform test method and equipment validation
  • Follow all applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs) and document results in the appropriate format to satisfy quality system requirements
  • Interact with manufacturing, R&D teams, internal and external customers
  • Report test results and conduct investigations to meet regulatory standards
  • Contribute to troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities in the laboratory
  • Handle chemicals and laboratory equipment safely
  • Maintain compliance with training expectations as required for this position
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required within scope of this position

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline that includes Chemistry course work and/or lab experience
  • Experience with laboratory techniques and apparatus associated with sample preparation and manipulation  
  • Experience in equipment and test method validations
  • Ability to perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Ability to support multiple initiatives or projects simultaneously
  • Ability to educate and influence people from a broad range of disciplines
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of the team

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality-controlled laboratory setting 
  • Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Heparin Activity testing
