About the Role

We are looking for an Application Engineer to join our Fabrics Consumer Garments Team who will provide application expertise, engineering and technical support to selected Gore brand partners in China.  Working closely with the China sales team across both local and international customers, you will help protect enthusiasts outside who demand the best by GORE‑TEX Product technologies that provide totally windproof, breathable, and water-resistant to durably waterproof protection.  As the application engineer, you will get an exciting opportunity to help support and strengthen our mission to be the preferred partner for globally recognized consumer apparel brands who desire and appreciate what the GORE-TEX brand represents in the industry.

This role will be located in either the Gore Shanghai office or the Gore facility in Shenzhen, China.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with account managers in China to support with the management of the day-to-day dynamic needs of the consumer business regarding product selection and technical support
  • Leverage consumer end-use expertise and build strong relationships with selected Outdoor and Lifestyle brand partners in China to ensure consumer needs are being fulfilled and enable profitable revenue growth of existing and new products
  • Identify key China customer application requirements and provide input to our global product teams for existing and new product concepts related to Outdoor and Lifestyle end-uses
  • Address and drive resolution of complex textile/laminate quality issues externally with customers and internally with our various cross-functional manufacturing, technical and product teams
  • Partner with our APAC Garments product support team to help ensure fitness-for-use in the garment design for manufacturability at the factory to deliver high quality products and exceptional customer experience
  • Together with the global product team support the management of the global laminate collection for multiple end-uses and drive new product / laminate development initiatives from concept to market launch in a fixed time scale.
  • Work closely with global leadership and our APAC regional team on how to cover business priorities across China and APAC
  • Develop deep understanding of China GB/T Standard and industry technical specifications including Sustainability differentiation to provide customer support and communicate with our cross-functional teams globally
  • Practices equitable and inclusive behaviors with other Associates to achieve outstanding results

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a technical (R&D engineer, process engineering, etc.) or application engineering role
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical, or science Degree with preferred Bachelor’s degree in textile engineering; fluency in both Chinese and English
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with and influence across functional teams including the ability to manage expectations with internal teams or external customers
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, technical writing skills, and ability to listen to the feedback from external business partners in order to share learnings with internal stakeholders (and vice versa)
  • Strong project management with proven ability to prioritize and drive multiple technical projects and/or customer support activities
  • Ability to create and support inclusion in your work environment; able to drive textile development work with our global product development teams
  • Effective team player with demonstrated ability to work with regional and global teams, self-motivated and self-confident to think and work independently
  • Solution oriented and creative problem-solving attitude, combined with the ability to prioritize and function in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Continuous improvement mindset, proactive - keen to learn and develop
  • Ability to travel up to 40% (sometimes with short notice) across China with some limited international travel

Desired Qualifications

  • One to two years of experience in the Consumer apparel business
  • Outdoor enthusiast and/or energized by the Consumer apparel marketplace
  • M.S. Engineering, Technical, or Science Degree
