About the Role

We are looking for a Quality Leader to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Gore Enterprise by supporting highly technical, high-quality products in manufacturing and product development activities, and ensuring continued reliable and stable supply. The key focus of this Associate will be to drive the growth of the local (Japan) Quality Team and its members, and to ensure that the global GPS  quality strategy is consistently deployed locally.

 

Responsibilities

  • Identify the resource needs of the Quality Team at the Bizen and Okayama plants and work with local and global leaders to realize those needs.
  • Drive the process and discussion on P&D (Performance & Development) and C&C (Contribution & Compensation) for the local Quality Team.
  • Build a diverse team and create and maintain a respectful, trusting, and inclusive environment.
  • Provide the team with the background and value to execute the various activities, influence Associates to think consistently, act proactively and reactively, and support the delivery of high-quality products.
  • Embody the Gore Culture, educating and coaching others.
  • With the local Quality Associates, ensure ISO 9001 certification is maintained as a management representative, and determine the appropriate level of alignment to IATF 16949 to meet partner expectations.
  • Translate the requirements of the quality standards into operating procedures, organizational practices, and people's behaviors and dispositions.
  • Work with global teams to implement common quality tools and practices to local teams.
  • Become a champion of continuous improvement (CI) in quality management systems.
  • Be the owner of metrics on quality 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a complex manufacturing environment in the chemical, polymer processing, or similar industries.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a quality or technical role, of which at least 3 years were as a people leader or leading complex projects.
  • Proven ability to set the vision for the team, identify opportunities for improvement, and lead complex projects to completion.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute functional strategic plans and tactics to meet business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to gain followership from Associates with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skills.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 certified environment, including exposure to QMS tools such as CAPA, control of nonconformances, customer complaints, and root cause analysis.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of relevant quality standards (e.g. ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
  • Travel of up to 10% of man-hours, including some global travel, can be tolerated.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working closely with global teams.
  • Proficient in English (TOEIC score of 700 or higher) and excellent global communication skills.
  • In depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF16949 in a Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering role
