About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Integrator (TI) to join Cardiac New Product Development (NPD).  This is a technical leadership role with responsibilities spanning technical strategy development, technical execution management, risk management, and influencing project decisions. You'll lead a NPD effort by defining the technical strategy and uncertainties, ensuring delivery to key technical milestones, managing technical risk throughout the product development lifecycle, and partnering with the Project Manager (PM) to align on project execution and external engagement strategies, while collaborating closely with cross-functional leadership.  You will be accountable for technical decisions made on the projects that you lead.

 

This position will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

 

Responsibilities

  • Technical Strategy & Leadership: define and deliver on project technical strategies aligned with business goals and business strategies; guide and mentor new product development engineers, set technical direction, delegate technical work, and drive delivery of product development tasks to meet business needs
  • Execution Oversight: lead the technical execution of new product development projects end-to-end from concept, prototyping, testing, and design control through to verification/validation and commercial launch, employ appropriate project management best practices to ensure the final product meets all technical requirements/needs
  • Risk Management: develop and direct technical and product risk management strategies and mitigation activities across the product lifecycle, including identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks through tools such as xFMEA and structured problem solving
  • Design Controls: lead and ensure execution of design control activities in accordance with the quality system, including requirements definition, traceability, verification and validation planning and execution, and documentation of design decisions
  • Cross-Functional Influence: collaborate with manufacturing, quality, regulatory, clinical, supply chain, and operations teams to align technical execution, and represent technical initiatives to R&D leadership
  • Stakeholder Management: align technical strategies with internal and external partners, as applicable, including suppliers and external design and development firms; ensure requirements are developed with the appropriate stakeholders, clearly communicated, and aligned to the project needs
  • Requirements Definition: ensure that customer and business needs are translated into product and process requirements for the entire scope of the project
  • Innovation and IP Strategy: partner with the legal team on technical landscaping, feasibility studies, ideation, novelty assessments, and creation of IP (e.g., invention disclosures, patents)
  • Communication: present technical plans, risk assessments, KPIs, and technical tradeoffs to the appropriate stakeholders and leadership to inform and drive timely project decisions
  • Equity and Inclusion: establish clear expectations of equitable and inclusive behaviors from Associates and act immediately to appropriately address negatively impactful or unfair behavior
 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of direct R&D experience focused on product development and/or reducing technical uncertainties associated with product development
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining an inclusive work environment with clear understanding of equitable practices  
  • Experience applying project management tools (planning, budgeting, scheduling, and proactively managing technical risk) to meet project deliverables
  • Demonstrated technical depth in product design and development, with the ability to independently drive complex technical work, apply sound engineering judgment, and influence technical decisions through data, analysis, and clear communication
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and DFM to support the development of a reliable manufacturing line
  • Solid knowledge of engineering fundamentals, fitness-for-use, and design controls, with the ability to apply this knowledge to manufacturing, product development, and technology development
  • Strong business acumen, sound decision making, and ability to effectively communicate with technical and business leadership
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 10% of the time

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated effective technical leadership of NPD projects
  • Project Management skills, including capability in MS Project and critical path management
  • Ability to influence cross functionally with strong written/oral skills, organizational skills, data analytical skills, and attention to detail

 

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement in the country from which the Associate is employed. Eligibility is dependent on the responsibilities of the role and business needs, and the Associate must agree to comply with Gore’s work arrangement policies.
