About the Role

The ELIXIR® Strings team is seeking a Process Engineer to provide technical ownership and day-to-day engineering support for our established coating product portfolio, including NANOWEB®, OPTIWEB®, and POLYWEB®. These products represent the core of our business and require strong process control, integrated quality systems, and continuous improvement to ensure reliable supply and consistent product performance.

 

This role is primarily focused on manufacturing process engineering, complemented by quality engineering responsibilities that strengthen process capability and product performance. The successful candidate will apply risk-based thinking, data-driven analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to maintain stable processes, manage material and supplier quality requirements, and analyze string quality to drive ongoing improvements as we prepare for future growth and material transitions.

This role is located at one of our facilitites in Elkton, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits: 

  • $90,000 - $125,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Process Engineering owner for assigned ELIXIR® Strings coating processes, providing daily technical support to manufacturing operations
  • Maintain and improve process stability, capability, yield, and reliability through hands-on troubleshooting and data-driven analysis
  • Lead structured problem-solving efforts using root cause analysis, statistical methods, and risk-based thinking
  • Analyze string quality and performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop, maintain, and apply process control plans, reaction plans, and standard work to ensure consistent product quality
  • Support supplier and material quality by contributing to specifications, evaluating performance, and resolving material-related quality issues
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to address production, quality, and reliability challenges
  • Support material changes, qualifications, and transitions to ensure manufacturability and robust process capability
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield improvement, defect reduction, and cost optimization
  • Maintain process documentation and support change management, audits, and corrective action activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or quality engineering roles
  • Experience supporting mature, high-volume manufacturing processes
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret process capability, variation, and performance data
  • Comfort working in a production environment with competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team, including influencing across functions
  • Ability to document, communicate, and present technical bodies of work 
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in coating, chemical, polymer, or materials-based manufacturing
  • Experience using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with quality systems concepts such as process capability, control plans, supplier specifications, and corrective action
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions to drive sustainable improvements
