About the Role

We are looking for a Demand Planner to join our Aerospace and Defense supply chain team. In this role, you will lead the processes to collect and create the demand plans for the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process through collaboration with Sales, Production Owners, Engineering, etc. You will document the supporting assumptions that underpin the plans and resulting forecast. The work includes managing all aspects of the demand plan, creating scenarios and working with the supply team to manage deviations. The Demand Planner collaborates with the Master Planner as the link to supply planning. The demand planner is responsible for measuring the performance of the demand plan and leading performance and process improvement. The demand plan is a critical foundational step in the S&OP process. 

 

This role is located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement. 

 

Pay and Benefits: 

  • $100,000 - $120,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Validate the Demand plan to support product life cycle management, business strategy and the operating plan
  • Responsible for identifying and planning for all sources of demand (sales, samples, internal) for the 4-24 month horizon
  • Develops demand plans at the family level for S&OP in volume and price/revenue, documents assumptions supporting the plans, and facilitates the Demand Review process
  • Disaggregates demand and creates a forecast at the mix level and short-term horizon to communicate to the Supply planning team
  • Establishes & executes policies with the Sales team for order management and prioritization (lead times, demand time fences)
  • Identifies new product developments (and phase in and phase out) to be incorporated into the Demand plans.
  • Manages changes in demand in the short (0-3 months) and mid-term, and collaborates on solutions with the Supply team
  • Manages and takes appropriate action on abnormal demand and demand exceptions
  • Identifies demand scenarios to be modeled with the Supply team
  • Leads improvement in demand planning processes, methods, metrics, practices and policies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, Technical field or Supply Chain and 5 years relevant experience in Sales, Marketing, Product Management and/or Supply Chain OR
  • 10 years proven experience in lieu of a degree in one or more of the following: Account Management, Progression of planning roles into Master Planner or Supply Chain Leadership roles 
  • Experience in S&OP processes in the mid and long term horizons
  • Experience in scenario planning, including ability to work with financial assessments
  • Experience in ERP functionality to support Demand Planning processes
  • Experience in ERP, advanced planning systems, and reporting systems
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement solutions
  • Understanding of inventory management & strategies
  • Ability to effectively create partnership with the Commercial organization
  • Demonstrated capability in statistical methodology
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Desired Qualifications

  • APICS (ASCM) CPIM certification, CSCP or IBF (Institute of Business Forecasting) certification
  • Anaplan experience
