About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join Gore Medical’s Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team. This position has a global focus and covers multiple medical device product lines (www.goremedical.com). You will collaborate with Gore’s team of health economists, market access and reimbursement specialists, brand managers, and other stakeholders to plan and analyze clinical and economic data sourced from a variety of in-house, public-use, and licensed healthcare databases; work with multi-disciplinary internal teams and interface with HEOR vendors to design and conduct health economic analyses; summarize and interpret analysis results and make strategic conclusions and recommendations; and prepare and present study reports and publications for both internal and external audiences. You will also assist with interpreting the results of data analyses to develop health economic models, including cost-effectiveness/cost-utility and budget impact models of healthcare interventions featuring Gore medical products.

 

This position offers a fully remote work arrangement in most locations within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Process, integrate, and validate large scale healthcare data sets and real-world data (RWD) from multiple sources including claims, EHR, registry, survey and linked RWD sources while ensuring methodological rigor and data quality.
  • Execute complex HEOR data queries and analyses using appropriate programming and statistical techniques. Generate analytic reports, tables, and graphics to communicate project findings
  • Apply a deep understanding of healthcare claims, EHR, registry, and real-world evidence (RWE) data to generate innovative insights that bring value to the business
  • Experience conducting systematic literature reviews (SLRs), targeted literature reviews,  and meta-analyses.
  • Ability to develop and relay evidence gap analyses and lay the groundwork for conducting new research supporting strategic evidence generation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, clinical, and regulatory teams, to translate evidence findings or gap analyses into actionable insight for the business and support the ongoing strategy development
  • Ability to translate clinical value story of product into an economic story and translate findings into customer facing economic collateral i.e. economic models
  • Experience with leading end-to-end study design and real-world evidence generation strategies that address business needs.
  • Lead development of presentation of study reports, dossiers, white papers, as well as assist with developing publications (e.g., abstracts, poster/podium presentations, and peer-reviewed journal manuscripts)
  • Support KOL engagements translating methodology of work into comprehensible presentations to be leveraged across multiple mediums of communication. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in a quantitative discipline, preferably in the line of healthcare research; examples include mathematics, statistics, data science, epidemiology, health economics, outcomes research, health services research, health informatics, or a related field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in health economics, outcomes research, and/or HEOR data analytics (experience with health economic modeling a plus)
  • Strong experience conducting real world studies using large healthcare claims/EHR databases (e.g., CMS, MarketScan, Premier) for HEOR or related functions
  • Strong working knowledge of biostatistical methods, including experience with conducting statistical comparisons analyses, as well as conducting and interpreting survival analyses and regression modeling
  • Knowledge of U.S. and global healthcare systems, including good understanding about payer/provider decision-making and health technology assessments; familiarity with medical coding terminology (ICD, CPT, HCPCS, UDI, etc.)
  • Computer skills: Proficiency with Panalgo Instant Health Data (IHD) healthcare analytics software platform and experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel  
  • Highly effective organizational, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to evolving demands and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work well independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge of database management software (e.g., SQL, Excel), statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS, and STATA), query/scripting languages (e.g., Python, R, Bash), or data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
  • Medical device industry experience
  • Strong AI fluency in HEOR studies

 

This position offers a remote work arrangement in the country from which the Associate is employed.  Eligibility is dependent on the responsibilities of the role and business needs, and the Associate must agree to comply with Gore’s work arrangement policies.
