About the Role

We are looking for a Production Leader to join the Polymer Products Team at our Elk Mills 1 facility. In this role, you will understand and apply manufacturing principles to lead manufacturing associates on two shifts in the production of chemical intermediates. The successful candidate will also support innovation, drive continuous improvement efforts, perform digital transformation work, enhance and broaden the skills of associates, and foster an inclusive work environment in support of the Gore Culture.

 

This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland. 

 

Pay and Benefits:

  • $90,000 - $115,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety, health, and well-being of Associates in a chemical environment by ensuring appropriate practices are used to protect them and their work environment
  • Develop, nurture, and lead a high performing manufacturing team capable of producing sustained business results
  • Build a diverse team and create a respectful, trusting and inclusive environment while driving accountability for yourself and other Associates
  • Proactively coach and mentor manufacturing associates to increase their contribution while being responsible for the performance management and development of the team
  • Coordinate and execute the short-term capacity plan as it relates to staffing, equipment and other resources to effectively meet business need and ensure appropriate support for innovation activities
  • Ensure best practices in product and process development and manufacturing execution (e.g. nonconformance and change practices, and adherence to the quality system procedures)
  • Be accountable for productivity improvements within the manufacturing team, driving continuous and sustainable improvements using Gore Business Systems principles and ownership of key manufacturing performance metrics
  • Establish strong partnerships with all manufacturing support functions, including engineering, procurement, planning, QA, skilled trades, and EH&S
  • Actively participate with the platform leadership team to improve and implement a Supply Chain strategy that supports business needs
  • Modify working hours to meet specific commitments as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field AND a minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing/operations OR a minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Leadership with complex processes, systems, and equipment in lieu of a degree
  • Ability to lead operations in a chemical environment with a willingness to learn more about environmental, health, and safety regulations and their applications
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and conflict resolution skills with demonstrated success in developing others and ability to fairly address performance issues
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and metrics with application to key manufacturing and supply chain disciplines
  • Proven experience organizing and translating complex information into actionable plans with tangible results
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and problem solving skills using knowledge in lean principles including A3 problem solving, daily management, and kaizen events
  • Ability to learn and navigate a quality system to ensure manufacturing procedures are being followed according to documented practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to changing conditions
  • Experience working effectively within teams, both as a leader and team member
  • Ability to travel up to 5%

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
  • History of championing and driving projects
  • Experience with safety identification and hazard management
