About the Role
We are seeking a Cardiac Innovator to lead the development of new products from initial concept through product launch. This role involves technical research, product and equipment design, and process development. You will translate market opportunities into product concepts, develop design prototypes, and validate these concepts with customers. You will ensure new product success through collaboration with research & design, New Product Development (NPD) teams, manufacturing, marketing, and sales leadership.
This position will be located at one of our facilities in Flagstaff, Arizona with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Translate market opportunities into innovative product concepts.
- Develop design concepts and prototypes, including Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).
- Create initial design documentation, including drawings and specifications
- Develop tooling and simple (e.g., not-automated) equipment designs
- Participate in selection of suppliers
- Validate product concepts with customers.
- Collaborate closely with research & design, NPD teams, design engineers, design & automation team, manufacturing, marketing, and sales leadership.
- Ensure new product success through effective process development and technical research.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a combination of education and relevant years of experience
- Minimum of 8 years of R&D experience
- Demonstrated technical depth in medical devices
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: innovation, product design, tooling, equipment design, or process development
- Hands-on prototyping experience, including use of prototyping equipment (e.g., 3-D printing)
- Experience with designing for manufacturability
- SolidWorks skills and knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, fitness-for-use, and the ability to apply this knowledge to manufacturing, product design, and technology development
- Ability to travel overnight up to 15% of the time
