About the Role
We’re seeking a Machining Functional Leader to join our skilled trades team. In this role, you will lead the local machining leaders, setting the strategic direction for the Machining Function and ensuring it effectively meets the needs of our internal customers within the Medical Products OpCo. This position plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, fostering team development, and advancing our machining capabilities.
This role will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Machining Function, ensuring alignment with divisional goals and fostering a cohesive, high-performing team.
- Ensure full compliance with quality standards and regulations across the function.
- Leverage data and key performance metrics to manage operations and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Oversee functional equipment planning, including forecasting, budgeting, and execution for replacements/new investments.
- Lead regular business reviews with internal customers to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
- Optimize space and resource utilization to support operational efficiency and future growth.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve efficient processes while setting and driving toward functional goals.
- Ensure the Machining Function consistently meets the evolving needs of internal customers including R&D.
- Provide leadership and support to local machining leaders, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to succeed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration (or related field) OR minimum 10 years’ experience in machining/tooling leadership, manufacturing/R&D leadership, or service provider leadership.
- Proven expertise in leading and managing teams, with a strong background in team development and mentorship.
- Proven commitment to continuous improvement and familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing key performance indicators to manage and plan.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects and partnering with customer teams or internal groups to accomplish defined goals, including planning, execution, resource management, and timely delivery.
- Experience using maintenance-management tools (e.g., CMMS, EAM, WO software) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement long-term strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of machining and fabrication processes
- Strong knowledge of FDA, ISO, or other regulated quality systems.
- Experience developing budgets and managing budgets.
