About the Role

We are looking for a Lead Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll lead and develop a team of process engineers responsible for transforming innovative product designs into scalable, high-quality manufacturing processes. This role combines strategic leadership, technical depth, and people development in a dynamic, collaborative environment. You’ll also drive development for your team to create scalable, efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes while enabling associate engagement and growth. This posting is for two Lead Engineers supporting Process Capabilities for Crush, Wrap and Laser Processing Capabilities.

 

This position will be based at one of our facilities in Flagstaff, Arizona or Phoenix, Arizona, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement depending on business needs and role responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of process engineers to achieve both business goals and individual career aspirations
  • Define and manage the process engineering scope within new product development projects, including schedules, resource planning, and investments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Project Managers, Technical Integrators, Operations Leaders, Commercial Technical Leaders and other stakeholders (where applicable) to align process design with product design and business objectives
  • Drive execution of process development and validation activities, ensuring compliance with design control and regulatory requirements.
  • Set and sustain a daily management rhythm grounded in Gore Business System (GBS) practices and Gore Medical standards
  • Utilize GBS Toolset and champion continuous improvement within the process engineering function by applying Lean principles and methodologies, identifying opportunities to enhance tools, methods, and team capabilities to drive efficiency and technical excellence
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with process engineering activities; establish proactive mitigation and contingency plans
  • Mentor sound engineering and statistical methods to design, execute, and analyze experiments supporting process optimization and validation
  • Promote collaboration and communication across functional teams to resolve design, process, and technical trade-offs effectively

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on engineering work experience or a minimum of 10 years professional work experience in technical or operations support
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, develop, and coordinate the work of others
  • Experience fostering a fair and inclusive work environment
  • Experience applying structured problem solving approach (such as 8D, 8-Step, DMAIC or PDCA) that drives root cause analysis using 5-Why, Why Trees, and Fishbone analysis  
  • Strong knowledge of process or product development and validation principles within a design control framework and a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, statistical analysis, and structured problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical projects concurrently and make timely, data-based decisions by prioritizing, planning, communicating tradeoffs, and making recommendations
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to navigate disagreement constructively and influence within your team and with cross-functional partners
  • Ability to apply engineering fundamentals and statistical tools to development, optimization, and troubleshooting activities
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical teams, including performance management and career development
  • Proven success in mentoring and coaching engineers to achieve business results and technical growth
  • Experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies in process development

 

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement in the country from which the Associate is employed.  Eligibility is dependent on the responsibilities of the role and business needs, and the Associate must agree to comply with Gore’s work arrangement policies.
