About the Role

We are looking for a Production Leader to join our Leadership Team who will be responsible for directly leading a team that manufactures commercialized product, including manufacturing operators and Area Leads.

 

The fourth shift production leader is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing production team to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. This role requires a strong focus on coaching, team engagement, operational discipline, and the application of lean manufacturing principles. As a key leader on fourth shift, this position sets the tone for a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

Fourth shift hours are Friday – Sunday, 6:00am – 6:30pm and Monday 11am-3pm.  The fourth shift production leader is expected to spend a majority of their working time during the fourth shift hours.

 

This role will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all production area activities including daily management and metrics, safety, quality, and delivery objectives achieved through high presence in the production area (40% minimum)
  • Responsible for the performance and development (P&D) of individuals and team to include time approval, performance management, contribution and compensation (C&C)
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, yield, and quality
  • Optimize resources as it relates to staffing, and equipment, in addition to achieving productivity and cost goals to ensure efficiency and business continuity
  • Model and promote the Gore Business System (GBS) approach to apply lean manufacturing tools such as daily management, 6S, standard work, structured problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Ensure all environmental health and safety requirements are met and documented through incident management and investigation
  • Work cross-functionally with all manufacturing support functions, including engineering, planning, QA, EH&S, Shop Services, HR, etc. to deliver daily and weekly mfg goal in a safe and inclusive environment
  • Communicate shift status, key issues, and improvement opportunities to leadership, other shifts, and other teams
  • Maintain compliance with training expectations as required for this position to include manufacturing review within the quality system
  • Establish clear expectations of equitable and inclusive behaviors from Associates and act immediately to appropriately address negatively impactful or unfair behavior

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum 3 years of hands-on responsibility for leading people, managing processes, and driving business outcomes in day-to-day operations
  • Experience utilizing daily management systems to ensure work is aligned with business objectives
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data to effectively escalate information locally, and cross-functionally to drive root cause and support decision making
  • Experience navigating a quality system and enforcing manufacturing procedures in a regulated environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and conflict resolution skills with demonstrated success in creating and maintaining an inclusive work environment with a clear understanding of equitable practices
  • Demonstrated success in applying lean tools in day-to-day operations and continuous improvement activities, including applied knowledge of Gore Business System (GBS) initiatives
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate goals, expectations, and feedback at all levels (operators, leaders, manufacturing support)
  • Ability to be pro-active, identify, and drive changes using influence and followership
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and respond quickly to changing conditions
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment with flexibility to modify working hours to meet shift specific commitments

Desired Qualifications

  • Successful completion of the Gore Production Leader Development Certification
  • BS in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or Operations Management
  • Six Sigma Certification and/or comparable lean certifications
