About the Role
We are looking for an IT Cloud Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design, implement, and enhance our Azure platform services and automation pipelines, driving a “cloud‑native” approach across the organization. You will partner with developers, architects, and administrators to define service-level best practices, build resilient cloud-native solutions, and mature our Ansible‑driven Virtual Server Request automation. This is an opportunity to lead strategic platform improvements, leverage AI tools for productivity, and mentor others in automation and advanced cloud concepts. You will be part of a forward‑thinking Digital IT team that values innovation, continuous improvement, and hands‑on problem solving.
This position will be located at one of our facilities in Flagstaff or Phoenix, Arizona, or Elkton Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.
Pay and Benefits
- $98,000 - $143,000 per year

Responsibilities
- Design and deploy scalable, highly available cloud‑native solutions in Azure (IaaS, PaaS, serverless, containers, networking)
- Lead the maturation of our Ansible‑based VM provisioning and configuration pipelines, integrating IaC best practices
- Define and document service‑level best practices including anti‑patterns, and risk‑mitigation strategies for Azure services (e.g., Storage Accounts, Function Apps, Container Apps)
- Serve as an escalation point for complex platform issues, collaborating with development and infrastructure teams to interpret logs/metrics and resolve performance or configuration problems
- Drive an automation‑first culture using Ansible, Bicep templates, Python, PowerShell, and Azure CLI; mentor peers in scripting and IaC
- Integrate AI productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) into day‑to‑day workflows for design guidance, error resolution, and knowledge capture
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture and IT Infrastructure teams on migration of on‑premises solutions to Azure, improving our overall cloud posture
- Maintain up‑to‑date architecture documentation, runbooks, and best‑practice guides in collaboration with QA and compliance teams
- Stay current with industry trends and attend conferences to bring new ideas back to the team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure and Cloud administration OR 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and Cloud administration
- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing solutions in Azure, with a focus on PaaS and cloud‑native services
- Demonstrated expertise with Infrastructure as Code technologies (ex. Ansible, ARM/Bicep, Terraform, CloudFormation\CDK) in a business setting
- Strong scripting skills (ex. PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI) and experience with source control (Git) and CI/CD tools (ex. GitHub Actions)
- Proven track record of advising teams on service level best practices, Well-Architected Frameworks and avoiding anti‑patterns for cloud services
- In‑depth knowledge of Azure networking patterns and components (ex. VNet peering, private endpoints, private DNS, hybrid connectivity)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Ability to take and pass Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104) within 3 months and Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ‑305) within 9 months
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Desired Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ‑305)
- Experience with ServiceNow ITSM (Incident, Service, Problem, Knowledge, Change, CMDB, etc.) and working in an IT Quality System
- Experience with hybrid cloud architectures and multi-cloud environments
