About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented GL accountant to join our Finance Team in India. This newly created role will be pivotal in establishing and overseeing core financial operations in the region, where we currently rely on an external agency for accounting support. In this role you will be performing accounting tasks in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
This role will be located in Gore facility in Mumbai, India.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the integrity of all financial records in accordance with India-GAAP and tax law as well as US-GAAP, including collaboration with the business and Financial/Accounting leadership both locally, regionally and globally
- Lead and manage statutory compliance and regulatory reporting, including audits, corporate tax and indirect tax filings, internal controls and treasury operations
- Support month end / quarter end/year end closing, prepare monthly financial statements in an accurate and timely manner
- Ensure compliance with all tax payments throughout the year; ensure appropriate accounting in areas such as reconciliations, revenue recognition, valuation together with analysis of fluctuations
- Responsible for three legal entities in India in management level
- Oversee the external accounting agency to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and adherence to internal controls
- Perform annual audit and tax return and liaison with external auditors and external tax advisors
- Work closely with the global tax team to handle tax authority's queries related to corporate income tax or transfer pricing concerns
- Provide assurance that accounting practices meet local and corporate regulatory requirements
- Look for ways to globally align, standardize and improve processes across all APAC entities as a member of the Accounting Team
Required Qualifications
- University graduate in Accounting or Business Administration
- CPA is required
- Relevant work experience (minimum 10 years) in an international company and minimum 7 years experience in GL and Tax function
- Technical accounting knowledge: Excellent knowledge of trading company accounting, manufacturing accounting experience is a plus
- Solid understanding of India local statutory accounting requirements and tax regulations, and US-GAAP knowledge
- Proficiency in MS Office programs, advanced Excel and experience working with ERP systems such as JD Edwards and SAP
- Fluent in Indian and English
- Good analytical, problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and international team environment
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Desired Qualifications
- SAP experience/implementation experience is a plus
