About the Role

We are looking for a talented Data Engineer to join the Enterprise Finance Data & Analytics team, you will play a key role in translating raw data into valuable business insights, guide data initiatives to measure financial performance, build end-to-end data pipelines (batch and near real-time) and support the cloud data platform. The ideal candidate has a background in data warehousing, proficiency in Python/SQL, proven data modeling skills, and experience engaging with business partners. The candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment, displaying big-picture thinking while paying careful attention to detail.

 

As part of this team, you will be responsible for maintaining a strong relationship with Finance and IT stakeholders along with contributing to the design, support, and growing scale of finance -related data products where accuracy, completeness, immutability, security, and timeliness are key to success. 

 

This position will be located at our facility in Newark, Delaware, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and scale the Enterprise Finance Modern Data Estate by enhancing its performance, reliability, and security, while overseeing Azure infrastructure resources (e.g., Key Vaults, storage, networking, access controls)
  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines through the data development lifecycle to support existing and new data models
  • Collaborate closely with Finance and analytics teams to understand reporting needs and ensure the data platform supports the creation of accurate, trusted, and scalable reports
  • Document data workflows and definitions for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure the quality, performance, and stability of data platform through robust quality systems and monitoring practices
  • Identify opportunities for automation and implement data management tools and frameworks to enhance efficiency and productivity
  • Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions to exchange actionable feedback with peers
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements, data products, and actionable insights
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices in modern data engineering
  • Ensure data governance, security, and regulatory compliance across data and infrastructure

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering with a focus on cloud-based data platforms
  • Prior experience using Azure Databricks, Fivetran, and/or DBT
  • Hands-on experience with version control and agile workflows (Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar)
  • Expertise in dimensional data modeling, ETL concepts, DevOps/DataOps practices, and patterns for efficient data governance
  • Strong knowledge of Python and expertise with modern data processing technologies (Spark, SQL, dbt/sqlmesh or similar)
  • A deep understanding of the modern data stack, with expertise in data ingestion, cleaning, transformation, modeling, orchestration, and data warehouses
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across Finance, IT, and analytics teams
  • Proven ability to design, productionize, and optimize batch and real-time data pipelines and systems, ensuring their quality, performance, and stability
  • Ability to travel 5%

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business/Data Analytics or a related field
  • Experience using IaC (Infrastructure as Code) to manage and provision Azure resources
  • Familiar with data semantic modeling for consumption in reporting tools such as Microsoft Power B

 

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement in the country from which the Associate is employed.  Eligibility is dependent on the responsibilities of the role and business needs, and the Associate must agree to comply with Gore’s work arrangement policies.
