About the Role

We are looking for a New Product Development (NPD) Program Manager (PgM) to join our businesses who will increase our project management capabilities from initiation, planning and execution of Product Development and then onto product launch and commercialization. In this role, you will also teach and coach Project Managers (PMs) in how to best meet project objectives within organizational constraints. This leadership position is critical to helping increase the pace of NPD and as such you will possess strong leadership and influencing skills, have a history of NPD project experiences to draw on, and be able to apply broad business acumen.

 

This position will be located at one of our facilities in Flagstaff or Phoenix, Arizona, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

 

Pay and Benefits:

  • $160,000-203,000 per year
  • Roles above $150k are eligible for the variable pay program each fiscal year, based on defined business performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor PMs in the use of standard project initiation and evaluation expectations (e.g., project requirements, change requests, phase gate and business reviews) and facilitate business / project team interactions
  • Facilitate project team building, including kick-off and engagement events so that teams can become high performing
  • Coach PMs and teams in estimation of project timeline and resource needs and work with the business to plan resource allocations across projects
  • Coach PMs and project functional leaders to ensure effective holistic project risk management; collaborate with other PgMs, business leaders and SMEs on systemic risk and issue management opportunities
  • Employ sophisticated stakeholder and change management techniques to enable trade-off and prioritization decisions, and to enhance change adoption for project success or process improvements
  • Support team and extended team conflict and performance resolution and carefully balance business and team member needs
  • Drive performance expectations and development plans for NPD PMs to grow their capability and contribution and develop or hire future PMs
  • Build an inclusive NPD project management community and mentor NPD team members in project management best practice to support their segment of the project
  • Align with leadership on key NPD improvement initiatives, including being able to work in concert with other PgMs and NPD Process Specialists to implement coaching, training, and process upgrades at a pace consistent with delivering NPD projects on target
  • Develop, support, influence, and enhance the organizational environment such as project governance and infrastructure to enable NPD project success

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Technical Field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project leadership roles such as Senior Project Manager, Program Manager, or Engineering Manager, with exposure to new product development (e.g., devices or similar products)
  • Track record of successfully coaching project leaders to deliver complex projects
  • Experience and passion for fostering an environment for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Expert in PM soft and hard skills, including use of MS Project and critical path methodologies, project risk management, stakeholder management with a track-record of coaching in such tools and techniques
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills in a wide variety of situations and applications
  • Demonstrated expertise in design control or similar regulated processes
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate ambiguity to resolve conflict, effectively build teams, and influence across functions and businesses without direct authority
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with different audiences (leaders, peers and team members) through excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time 

Desired Qualifications

  • Strongly preferred to have a Project Management Professional (or similar) credential and/ or Master’s degree in Business or Management
  • Experience developing: Implantable medical devices /Endovascular products and strong knowledge of medical device New Product Development processes and phase gate governance 
  • Experience leading external design and development project work and direct vendor management experience.

 

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement in the country from which the Associate is employed.  Eligibility is dependent on the responsibilities of the role and business needs, and the Associate must agree to comply with Gore’s work arrangement policies.
