About the Role
We are looking for a Proofreader/Copy Editor to join our team. In this role, you will ensure content is accurate, clear, and consistent, while also verifying facts and following style guides. You will focus on grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall readability, working to enhance the final product. This role will collaborate with a writer and designers to refine content and ensure it aligns with the intended message and Gore brand.
This is a remote position, and you can work from home in most locations within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Proofread and edit content to ensure accuracy in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax
- Improve sentence structure, word choice, and overall content flow to ensure clarity and readability
- Verifying facts, dates, names, and other details for accuracy
- Ensure adherence to specific style guides (e.g. AMA) and maintain consistency across content
- Collaborate with the writer, designers, and other team members to refine and finalize content
- Perform detailed reviews of all project deliverables to identify and remediate any outstanding errors prior to release or system deployment
- Occasionally assist in reviewing or advising on the visual layout of text to support readability and consistency
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience proofreading/copy editing including 3 years’ experience in medical device or regulated environment
- Proven expertise in English grammar, punctuation, and spelling, with practical experience using style guides such as AMA
- Excellent written communication skills and providing feedback
- Strong skills in word processing software and adaptability in using various digital tools (familiarity in Workfront is beneficial but not required)
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Ability to identify errors and inconsistencies in content, while verifying accuracy of facts and sources
- Ability to manage and prioritize workload proactively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to adapt to different writing styles and content types
- Ability to travel up to 5%
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working on or with a promotional/marketing collateral review team
- Familiarity with working in a regulated / life sciences / MLR environment
- Familiarity with Workfront or equivalent project management and proofing tools
This position offers a remote work arrangement in the country from which the Associate is employed. Eligibility is dependent on the responsibilities of the role and business needs, and the Associate must agree to comply with Gore’s work arrangement policies.
