About the Role

We are looking for a Trade Specialist with focus on Export Control / US Re-Export Control and Export processing for our European Global Trade Team.

In this role you will ensure compliant, timely, and business-enabling export operations by managing export licensing, classification (ECCN/ECN), sanctions/embargo screening, technology related controls, and recordkeeping.

You will partner Sales, Supply Chain, Engineering and Legal to optimize the Internal Compliance Program (ICP) and reduce export-control risks without slowing down the business. You will align frequently with the responsible Export Control Officer / Functional Leader of the other business unit to streamline processes. You will also process export shipments from Germany or the UK.

Responsibilities

 

  • Product and technology classification (e.g., EU Dual‑Use vs. U.S. EAR/ITAR), assign ECCN/ECN and related HTS where needed.
  • Maintain the classification database (SAP & E2Open) to keep data accurate.
  • Conduct Restricted Party Screening (RPS) and Denied Party checks for customers, suppliers & end-users.
  • Work with the Export Team and approve/hold/reject orders based on risk scoring.
  • Document due diligence and escalation outcomes.
  • Assess transactions against EU, U.S. OFAC/EAR, UK, and local measures (e.g., embargoes, sectoral sanctions, Russia, Iran, etc.).
  • Prepare, submit and manage export license applications (e.g., BAFA in Germany, EU general authorizations)
  • Ensure controls for technology transfer as part of the ICP
  • Monitor regulatory updates
  • Process export shipments end-to-end, including ATLAS filing in E2Open, tendering to Freight Forwarders and Parcel Carriers, follow-up on exit documentation (AGV).

 

Required Qualifications

  • Completed commercial training (apprenticeship), ideally as a freight forwarding and logistics services clerk or industrial, wholesale, and foreign trade clerk.
  • Minimum of 3 years of all-round experience in customs & trade (Export/Import), or comparable commercial experience in logistics, procurement, or supply chain management, here a minimum of 1 year of experience in Export Control and related tasks & regulations (e.g. EU Dual-Use, DE AWG regulation)
  • Experience in Export shipment processing & ATLAS filing
  • First experience in communication with Stakeholders of the business (e.g. engineers, products specialists) and authorities (e.g. customs, BAFA, trade consultants)
  • Good oral and written communication skills in German & English
