About the Role

We are looking for a Customs Specialist with focus on Exports and Imports, or other customs compliance tasks as part of the European Global Trade Team.

In this role you will be responsible for all tasks related to exporting from the UK and Germany.  and in some cases, import into Germany and the UK. You handle export customs formalities and give import customs clearance instructions. You follow the Union Customs Codex regulation and make sure Gore stays compliant. If service orientation and teamwork are not foreign concepts to you and you would like to contribute your customs expertise to further development of our processes, then you have come to the right place.

Responsibilities

 

  • File Export customs clearance for the German and British subsidiaries via ATLAS customs system (E2Open) which is interfaced from SAP 4/Hana.
  • Prepare Import clearing instructions in the customs system (E2Open) for the customs broker.
  • Monitor of the timely and proper processing of import shipments by external customs brokers.
  • Check the quality on correctness of customs clearances and tax assessments according to specified criteria (post-audit).
  • Complete master data in the customs system, including follow-up process of exit documents with service providers.
  • Interact with internal teams, data and process reconciliation.
  • Contact person for brokers, freight forwarders, and internal departments for shipment status inquiries.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Completed commercial training (apprenticeship), ideally as a freight forwarding and logistics services clerk or industrial, wholesale, and foreign trade clerk.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs clearance for exports and imports, or comparable commercial experience in logistics, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of tariff classification of goods according to purpose or nature.
  • Confident to use of industry-standard application software (MS Office, merchandise management systems/ERP, customs systems/ATLAS).
  • Fluent German and good English skills.
  • High level of customer and service orientation.
  • Committed, independent, and team-oriented approach to work.
