About the Role

We are looking for a mid-level SAP Joule developer to design, build, and extend generative AI capabilities on SAP Joule, SAP's AI copilot embedded across S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, Ariba, and SAP BTP. The role covers building custom Joule skills and agents, integrating generative AI into SAP applications, and connecting SAP's AI stack to business processes and data.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and test custom Joule skills and agents using Joule Studio / SAP Build.
  • Develop backend services and APIs (CAP, Node.js/Java, or ABAP RESTful Programming Model) that expose business logic and data to Joule.
  • Integrate SAP Generative AI Hub / SAP AI Core with large language models (LLMs) for use cases such as summarization, Q&A, and workflow automation.
  • Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, including embeddings, vector stores, and grounding Joule responses in SAP business data.
  • Configure and extend SAP BTP services: destinations, XSUAA/authorization, event mesh, and API Business Hub connections.
  • Write and tune prompts, evaluate model outputs, and iterate on accuracy, tone, and safety guardrails.
  • Build or extend Fiori/SAPUI5 front ends and OData/REST services that surface Joule-driven features.
  • Collaborate with functional/business teams to translate requirements into AI-enabled scenarios.
  • Support testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of deployed Joule skills in production.

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of software development experience, including at least 1-2 years working with SAP BTP or SAP Cloud Application Programming (CAP) model.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Joule, Joule Studio, or SAP Build (Apps/Code/Process Automation).
  • Proficiency in Node.js or Java for CAP-based services, or ABAP Cloud / RAP for backend extensions.
  • Practical understanding of generative AI concepts: prompt engineering, embeddings, RAG, and LLM integration (e.g., via SAP AI Core / Generative AI Hub or comparable platforms).
  • Experience with OData and REST API design and consumption.
  • Familiarity with SAP security concepts: XSUAA, role-based access control, and destination configuration.
  • Working knowledge of SAPUI5/Fiori Elements for front-end development.
  • Comfortable with Git-based version control and agile delivery practices.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, IBP, or Ariba functional modules.
  • Exposure to SAP Business Technology Platform's Event Mesh or Integration Suite.
  • Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., SAP HANA Cloud vector engine) and RAG architectures.
  • SAP certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Development Associate - SAP BTP, or Generative AI-related credentials).
  • Experience with responsible AI practices: bias testing, output evaluation, and data privacy compliance.
