About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated and technically skilled Field Application Engineer/Scientist to join our dynamic Clean Energy team. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with our leading partners across the region to drive innovation and progress in clean energy technologies. You will be responsible for initiating and expanding deep technical collaborations, playing a key role in advancing market opportunities in Fuel Cells, Water Electrolysis, and Battery and Energy Storage. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in the transition to sustainable energy solutions while working at the forefront of cutting-edge clean technologies.
This role will be located at our facility in South Korea.
Responsibilities
- Work with various external technology teams across multiple electrochemical applications to understand technical needs and match them with Gore technical capabilities
- Facilitate technical interactions between various External and Internal teams through deep understanding of Proton exchange membranes for Fuel Cells and Water Electrolysis systems as well as application of Gore’s material capabilities in solving electrochemical problems
- Influence system specifications that serve as a competitive advantage for Gore’s performance and capabilities
- Cultivate in-depth market and application understanding of electrochemical applications
- Understand customers’ needs and collaborating with the global team to fulfill those needs, utilizing and developing internal capabilities
- Participate in new product development, commercialization, and market introduction projects, bringing in knowledge of the customer and application needs
- Educate the sales & marketing team and customers on product performance characteristics, applications, and installation processes
- Support customer validation activities to ensure the elements of Fit-For-Use and the customer requirements are met
Required Qualifications
- PhD or Masters degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Polymer, or Chemistry
- A minimum of 5 years battery or other electrochemical system experience.
- Strong technical acumen with ability to interface with leading research scientists.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to efficiently resolve technical issues.
- Competence in project management.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication, enable effective virtual teaming.
- Demonstrated ability to manage expectations, with internal or external customers.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with and influence across global functional teams to drive business results.
- Proven ability to extract application requirements and translate into product specifications.
- Ability to identify unmet technical needs and progress them from idea to product match.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate working within an international team, including morning/evening conference calls.
- Ability to travel up to 50%
