New Product Development Engineer
We are looking for a New Product Development Engineer to join our Fabrics R&D Team in Shenzhen FTZ plant. In this role, you will work with global & local cross functional teams to drive new product (composite fabric) development from concept through commercialization.
This role will be located at our facility in Futian Free Trade Zone, Shenzhen, China.
Responsibilities
- Partner with market facing team & customers to verify new product opportunities
- Develop, assess product alternatives and fabricate prototypes for internal and external evaluation
- Analyze and troubleshoot product performance gaps by collaborating with process & quality team, design & run experiments to validate processes & products
- Collect customer’s feedback, finalize the product spec and officially transfer them for mass production
- Apply disciplined project practices to define, execute, and document your project work, including effectively communication of the progress and outcome
- Work with cross functional teams to develop and validate new testing & prototyping equipment, new testing methods & procedures to assess product performance
- Identify unique product & process innovation opportunities for patent application and supporting the enterprise IP processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor or advanced degree in engineering or science (Textile, Polymer, Chemical, Mechanical, Material, etc) with solid experience on new product development, new product introduction or new process development
- Self-motivated and self-directed, comfortable working in a rapid paced environment, good at multi-task and prioritization
- Good project management skills, ability to create, communicate project plan and uncertainties with cross-functional team effectively, deliver result timely.
- Good troubleshooting skill, able to identify technical uncertainties, propose resolving hypothesis and build plans to verify
- Excellent communication in both English and Mandarin (Written and Verbal)
- Ability to travel up to 5%
Desired Qualifications
- Textile (fiber/yarn spinning, fabric weaving/knitting/dyeing and finishing), non-woven, or garment development/manufacturing knowledge & experience
- Experience in applying statistical tools, example of DoE, validation process, etc
- Creative thinking with hands-on working style
